I kind of knew this was going to happen, but about a day or so after I cried unto Tyr at the injustices Baldur’s Gate II had visited upon me, I decided to give it another go. I have concluded that the game is fine; I merely bit off more than I could chew with the quest I had been doing. All I needed to do was back up to the most recent Chapter start and find some other quests that I could take on without getting pantsed.
That said, this game may be too large. No, really. You could play this for five hours and make no noticeable progress relative to the amount of stuff that remains for you to do. In addition, there is an increased emphasis on puzzle-solving and riddles compared to the first game. I am terrible at both, slowing my progress further. I’ve also ended up going to the internet and letting it tell me what to do for a few of these. I’m not proud of this, exactly, but it is what it is.
Now that I’ve gotten back on the horse though, it is imperative that I not play it so much that it ruins my life. Wish me luck…
