I've said this before and I'll say it again; the Great British Baking Show has always been stressful. Even back when the show first rose to prominence here in the U.S., and was immediately celebrated for its warm vibes, the Tent was still jam packed with bakers on the verge of losing their shit. Remember … Continue reading GBBS 2021 Power Rankings – Bread Week

Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 6, 2021 Season
Fuck Jon Gruden, forever and ever. Also, the NFL must release the other emails from the WFT investigation. I know they won't unless forced to, but that makes it more imperative, not less. On to the picks. Week 5 Correct Picks: 13/16 Season Total Correct Picks: 48/80 Week 5 Points: 115/136 Season Total Points: 429/680 … Continue reading Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 6, 2021 Season
GBBS 2021 Power Rankings – Biscuit Week
Hello again and welcome back to the GBBS Power Rankings! Before I get started, I'd like to ask for a quick show of hands. How many of you out there actually like gingerbread? As in, you find its texture and flavor appealing, and you would happily eat more than one gingerbread biscuit in a given … Continue reading GBBS 2021 Power Rankings – Biscuit Week
Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 5, 2021 Season
Important announcement! As I adjust to my new life of stay-at-home fatherhood, it has become clear that I have neither the time nor the energy to do both normal, full-length Confidence Pool column and my normal, full-length Great British Baking Show column at this time. I must choose between the two, and I've chosen to … Continue reading Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 5, 2021 Season
2021 GBBS Power Rankings – Cake Week
Welcome back for another season of the Great British Baking Show Power Rankings! I started doing these Power Rankings for the 2019 season, and that's a real shame because that seems to be the exact season that the Great British Baking Show started having real problems. That year, the most salient issue was that the … Continue reading 2021 GBBS Power Rankings – Cake Week
Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 4, 2021 Season
Oh hey, dare I say that Week 3 was something of a rebound? 11 correct picks and 96 points, and I'm above .500 both in terms of correct picks and total points for the first time all season? I'll take it! Every loss that I did take was foreseeable, and hedged with lower point assignments. … Continue reading Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 4, 2021 Season
Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 3, 2021 Season
Wild Overreactions, baby! Let's take a look at how much better I did once I set my mind free! What's that? One more correct pick and only two more points than my disastrous Week 1? I spent my entire Week 2 column in service of a stupid, self-indulgent rhetorical gimmick that I only I thought … Continue reading Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 3, 2021 Season
Shadowrun: Dragonfall – An Examination
Back in February, I took a look at Shadowrun Returns in this space. Returns is by no means a perfect game, but it's more than enough fun for what it is, and it captures most of what I've always dug about the world of Shadowrun. Capturing the essence of Shadowrun is no small task! Shadowrun … Continue reading Shadowrun: Dragonfall – An Examination
Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 2, 2021 Season
Alright! Wasn't that an awesome Week 1, everybody? Was that not an excellent reminder of how much fun watching games of professional football is? Is it not one of life's simple pleasures to marvel at the superhuman feats of athleticism on display during each and every snap? Does a full slate of Sunday games not … Continue reading Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 2, 2021 Season
Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 1, 2021 Season
Welcome to the first Confidence Pool column of the season! To those of you familiar with my feeble, doomed attempts to share good pool picks with the world, I hope you're ready to kick back and snicker at my horrendous decision making. Those of you who aren't familiar with the Confidence Pool format are, uh...Welcome! … Continue reading Rob’s NFL Confidence Pool: Week 1, 2021 Season
